Inspired...

{CLICK HERE FOR THE GIVEAWAY - OR SCROLL DOWN}

I love to feel inspired... sometimes it comes easy... sometimes it doesn't. But, I LOVE it whenever it comes! Here are a few things that are inspiring me lately...

Photobucket

Colorful burp clothes... my oldest daughter's teacher is pregnant and due in April. She doesn't know what she is having, but all the mom's are getting her stuff for her baby. This is what is REALLY hard for me... not knowing what the baby is. And everyone telling me what colors are gender neutral... I mostly don't agree. Yellow is for girls and green is for boys. That is what I think. :D I can't think of putting yellow on a boy. So, I ordered some fabric the other day, and I am going to whip up some burp clothes for her. I will share when I am finished. ;)

Photobucket

Storage bucket seen on Sew Mama Sew. I want to make a million of these in LOTS of colors and have them all over the house for storage. Not that I have time to make any, but I love them just the same. :)

Photobucket

A chandelier re-do. Who doesn't love this idea? I sure do!! I want to do one in each of my girl's rooms! They are so stinkin cute when they are finished!

Photobucket

And, lastly... a chalkboard wall!!! This would be THE best ever!!! Maybe when we buy a new house I will get to designate a wall for this idea... I like the idea of having it in the girl's rooms or even in the kitchen/dining room. How fun!!! Maybe mixing it with magnetic paint would be great too! Oh, yes! I will be doing this one FOR SURE! :D

And, how about some more? Here are my Etsy finds...

Lots and LOTS of great stuff. *Sigh* I love Etsy. :)

A New Project

{SCROLL DOWN FOR GIVEAWAY}

Since I won't bring myself to pay the astronomical prices at Anthropologie, I decided that I could do the anthropologie style myself... at least for the most part. I LOVE that store! It is SO incredibly inspiring, but paying $300 for a lampshade or $100 for a hand embroidered piece of artwork is just crazy! So, why not do it myself if I can? :) That brings me to my new - hobby...

Photobucket

Yep... hand embroidery. This is going to be framed and put in Angelina's room. It will have 6 birds on it when finished. :) I have a lampshade in Zoe's room that I want to embroider owls and such on. I will share when I get to that. ;)

I go into Anthro just to get inspiration for my girl's rooms. They have super awesome stuff in there... don't you agree? :D

Also, I wanted to let those of you that have won a camera strap slip cover in a giveaway.... I am REALLY sorry! I have not shipped any winnings out yet!! I hope you forgive me! They will ALL go out before I leave for vacation next Friday [March 6th] - I PROMISE!!!! Please don't hate me. :(

I leave you with this hilarious picture...

The Vintage Pearl... that's all I need to say. :) My friend, Erin of The Vintage Pearl makes the most beautiful stamped jewelry!! She is articulate and it shows in each of her pieces. She takes pride in each piece she makes for her customers, and loves what she does. On top of being a fantastic jewelry designer, she is also a great friend... though I have never met her in person, she and I chat every single day. Most of the time it's just to see how each other is doing. Or asking each other for ideas. :) She is quite lovely, and she has helped me a lot!!

I have a couple of Erin's pieces of my own...

6 Degrees Shy

It's hot today. 6 degrees shy of 90! If you know me, then you know that I HATE the heat. And, yes. I live in Arizona. Crazy, I know. My husband and I are polar opposites when it comes to the weather. He loves the heat - A LOT! While I hate the heat - A LOT! ha ha. I would be in heaven on earth living in Seattle or Portland. I loooove the rain, and love gloomy weather. My husband is currently living in his heaven earth, I think. It can be 110 degrees outside, and he is loving it. While I become a shut in. :) ha ha.

Anyway. It's hot, and in no way am I trying to rub it in to those that are still having 30 degree weather in the day. I wish it was that cold here! Trust me!

So... seems we skipped over Spring and are now into the beginnings of summer. Oh. Great. :( In February. At least next Friday I will be going out of town to North Carolina! It will be nice and cool there. Hey! If any of you are in the Raleigh area, and want a photo shoot... email me! That would be so fun! :) shealynn AT gmail.com

Don't forget! Tomorrow is Giveaway day... not Wednesday. So, MAKE SURE to come back! You are going to flip when you see this giveaway! :D

Also, tomorrow is the LAST day to order in order to guarantee that you receive your camera strap slipcover before I go on vacation!!! Do make sure and place your orders by tomorrow - no later than 10pm Mountain time!! Go HERE to place your order. :)

Thank you. :)

{FOR THE GIVEAWAY, CLICK HERE --- IT ENDS TOMORROW, SO ENTER NOW!!}

Hello! Well... that does it! 20 out of 25 of you say you like the YOYO'S best... I guess that would mean that the Yoyo's win! ;) ha ha. So, that being said, I will keep the yoyo's as an option in my shop. They aren't going anywhere. Thank you very very much for taking the time to let me know what you think! Even though I bribed you!! :) So, those of you that helped me out get an additional 2 blog entry points!!

I probably will not offer the crochet flowers. I really just wanted to offer one or the other, but we'll see.

Don't forget that the giveaway ENDS tomorrow!!! Make sure and enter if you'd like to win! These hats are SUPER adorable. Also... when you enter, you are entering for that purple hat. If you would rather have another hat, feel free to purchase one from her. Click here to go to her shop.

Next week, the giveaway will be held on Tuesday instead of Wednesday. I am trying to keep you on your toes. ;) I am sure you are all going to go wild for that giveaway! Just wait.

Hope your weekend is going well! Things are going fine here. I am trying to decide if I want to move all of my sewing stuff into the garage, and therefore boot my car out in the driveway. I am afraid that the death star - I mean the sun is going to wreck havoc on my car's interior. But, I really want more space, and I want to get OUT of my living room/dining room so that my stuff is no longer an eye sore. We live in a teeny tiny house, and while it's temporary, I am always trying to figure out a way to give us more space. Going into the garage would do that... would definitely need to invest in a free standing air conditioner, that's for sure! ;) You will all know what I decide, because I am sure to take pictures if I move to the garage. This may not seem like a tough decision for most of you, but it is for me. ha ha ha! I have been contemplating this for a couple of months now. Should I do it? Should I not? Ahhhhh!

OK! Time to rest my mind and get lost in the last book of the Uglies series!! Seriously! You all should read these books! They are SO good!!!

Also... does anyone have the book Twilight? I was wondering if anyone would be willing to donate their copy?

XOXO,

Shealynn

I missed you!!!

Hi everyone!! I have missed you! :) I am feeling much better, though. Thank you so much for the well wishes! I spent most of today playing with my little one, sewing, and hanging out with my oldest and husband.

While sick, I was reading. Reading a lot. I finished the book Uglies by Scott Westerfeld, and also finished the 2nd book in the series, Pretties. I am now more than halfway through the 3rd book, Specials. I HIGHLY recommend these books. They are excellent! And, I am just going to say it now... I love teen fiction! ;) I don't care that I am 27 years old. The teen fiction books that I have read so far are fabulous.

I also got some other books over the weekend from Amazon... this one, this one and this one. :) More creative goodness. And Knit Two, of course. ;) Do any of you have the stitching books? I would love to see what you've done!

My husband and I went out for Valentine's Day on Friday to beat the crowds. He took me to a fabulous restaurant called Maria Maria. Then we went to Barnes N Noble and coffee. It was so nice to get out with my dear sweet husband. I didn't get anything involving diamonds or chocolate or flowers for V-Day, but first off, I don't need jewelry, nor chocolate. And, he gets me flowers ALL the time. Dinner and the bookstore was just great with me. And time alone with my guy. It was perfect. He also gave me a card, and wrote the most amazing things in it! That's the best present he could have given me. His thoughts in a card. My kids got me this cutie...

Photobucket

Photobucket

And, we ordered in ...

Photobucket

I also got the fabulous pink fabric I told you all about...

Photobucket

And, I got the turquoise minky in the mail today!!!! You all are going to want this minky FOR SURE! :)

Don't forget! Giveaway day is tomorrow - Already! Good grief! My weeks fly by! :)

More later! How are all of you? What amazing stuff did you do on Valentine's Day?

XOXO,

Shealynn

Hope you all had a FABULOUS Valentine's Day!!! I sure did! More on that later, though...

Because You Asked

{SCROLL DOWN FOR GIVEAWAY}

OK OK OK! Since so many of you asked to see the new fabric that I ordered with pink in them... twist my arm! ;) Here they are...

Photobucket

Photobucket

2 yards of pinkish loveliness from designer Amy Butler! IF you want to order it, let me know... I can set up a custom listing for you. I should be getting this fabric tomorrow. :D Thought it was going to be here today, but noooo. Tomorrow it is.

I also ordered some TURQUOISE MINKY!!!! Woo Hoo! That should be here sometime soon too.

I've gotten a couple other questions from people lately, so here are your answers:

Ricci
-- Yes!! There was a boy's name involved in that K-I-S-S-I-N-G song!! Can't remember his name, though.

GEL-Oh -- I absolutely think about men when I make my camera strap slip covers... and I do have several camera strap slip covers listed that are either geared towards men, or are unisex. I believe that the guitar one is unisex... I would wear it. I love it! :) Can't forget about those men, but I must say that most of my customers are woman.

J Lu -- I hope those fabrics helped with your decision! Happy Birthday [coming soon]!!!

Kimber -- Surprisingly enough, my house is pretty dark. Many times I have to open the front door to let in a little more light. I also shoot with a 50mm f1.8 lens. This allows me to shoot in lower lighting. :) Thank you for the compliment!

Celeste -- How funny that we have the same couches!! :) I love them! Leather... the best thing to have when you have clumsy children. ha ha!

Thanks for your questions, and compliments!!

I wanted to remind everyone... I will be out of town from March 5th - March 13th!! My Etsy Shop will be open, but I will not be in town to make them... All orders must be in NO LATER than February 24th to ensure that you get your camera strap slip cover before I go out of town. :) So, order now if you need to. Just wanted to remind you all again. Sorry to be repetitive... I will likely repeat this again, so, sorry! ha ha!

OK!!! I am off to Joann's! They are having a sale on interfacing today! 50% off! Woo Hoo!!

XOXO,

Shealynn

Love, Marriage, Baby Carriage

{SCROLL DOWN FOR GIVEAWAY}

Remember that song? "So and so and so and so sitting in a tree. K-I-S-S-I-N-G. First comes love, then comes marriage, then comes a baby in a baby carriage? [NO! I am NOT pregnant]

Well, my oldest daughter gets in the car after school today, and tells me that some of her friends were teasing her and boy at school, and then she starts singing the above song... to her surprise I picked up singing where she left off. She couldn't believe I [her MOTHER] knew that song. Apparently, kids think all their songs are "made up". Uh, no. I sang that song most of elementary school... did you? I was surprised that my first grader was singing this, because I don't remember singing it that young... mom - a little help here! When did I start singing it? Anyway. I thought it was funny, and I immediately thought, "I am so blogging about this!" And for those of you who have toddlers - get ready... your time will come when your children will come and and sing this song to you thinking they are all original and stuff. ;)

My youngest daughter has taken on a completely new affectionate personality... in which I am pleasantly surprised. She is always making kissing sounds at my husband and I. Always wanting a little kiss. Sometimes a little cuddle too. This is surprising only because she is the "wild-into-everything-I-can-possibly-get-my-hands-on-and-maybe-hurt-myself-in-the-process" kind of kid. She hurts herself at least once a day, but doesn't cry much. Which is the complete polar opposite of how our oldest is and was at Zoe's age. Oldest = drama. Youngest = couldn't be farther from drama. Which is a relief, because 1 dramatic kid is enough for me and my patience.

This is not a complaint. Just a fact. I love that they are so different. Makes life very interesting, and much less dramatic. ;) Zoe is definitely going through the terrible 2's though, so that really stinks to high heaven. But, it will be over soon... I hope... or I might be sent to a mental institution. ha ha.

Moving on...

I made 2 new camera strap slip covers last night... before my sewing machine started throwing up thread. That sewing machine is currently being rushed to the hospital where it better get fixed or I am going to... I don't know what! But something. LOL. Anyway... here are those new strap slip covers...

Photobucket

Photobucket

They are fabulous!! Better in person. ;) wink wink. I have some other new fabric on the way too... they have pink in them, and I love them!!! Anyway, those strap slip covers are in my shop... click HERE.

So... speaking of love.... what does everyone have planned for Valentine's Day??? Anything? My guy and I are going to be together... that's all that really matters to me anyway. A movie might be in the agenda too. And maybe McDonald's. ha ha ha ha!! As long as he and I are together... doesn't matter what we do. Just sayin'.

XOXO,

Shealynn

What I've Been Up To...

I'm learning...

Photobucket

Photobucket

How to spin my own yarn!! :) It's a process, and I still have A LOT to learn, but I am so excited with what I've spun so far! I love spinning too... I sort of feel like a pioneer woman! The only thing missing? A house in the middle of no where, and a front porch over looking my many many acres. ;) Some day!

I'm working on some new knitting projects as well...

Photobucket

I LOVE that seed stitch. :) Same yarn as the last scarf, but this time it's red!

and...

Photobucket

I hope this turns out as fantastic as I am envisioning it! It's a basket weave pattern. - Both are going to be scarves... yes, I know! I live in Arizona, and winter here is pretty much over... if you want to even dare call it winter... more like fall. ;)

But!! It's been raining [off and on] since Saturday night!!!

Photobucket

I am LOVING this rain! :) It's funny to see most Arizonians freaking out about the rain. It's like it's snowing in Phoenix, not raining! :)

Here are my girls the other day watching : "Horton Hears A Who" ... they were so into it!

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket

Zoe was into it for about 30 minutes... then she was off and running. ha ha! The attention span in a 2 year old is pretty minimal. I am sure most of you understand. :)

Well, that's all for now!!! What have YOU been up to lately?

XOXO,

Shealynn

Q&A Friday!

Looking for the giveaway, click HERE!

Ok, well today is the day that I answer the many questions that I have been asked. But FIRST!! I just received my first RUDE comment!!! You read Dooce? Ha! Well... Let's "Dooce" them... What does that mean? Whenever Dooce/Heather Armstrong gets a rude comment on her blog, she posts what they said, and then tells them what she thinks about it. It is quite funny, and I highly doubt I will be able to do it as well as she does... but, let's give it a try!

Here is what "Anonymous" said:

Anonymous said...

"could you please tell us why in the world we would wanna ask you questions? are you that important NO! why don't you try too slim your weight before you think you're something."

I just love it when someone makes rude comments but isn't bold enough to use their real name... instead it's the cowardly annonymous. I am just going to kill with kindness here...

Thank you so much anonymous for leaving a comment on my blog. And, you asked me questions!! So, they will be answered in this Q&A post. It's so nice of you to take time out of your apparently busy day to leave me a comment, and be oh so rude! Oh, and you must be a psychic, because I am watching what I am eating all the time! Yep, I need to slim up a bit, so thank you anonymous for bringing that to my attention, because apparently, I think I am so important and everything that my weight is somehow affecting my big ego. Do come back anytime and be rude again!

XOXO,

Shealynn

P.S.

You ticked my husband off, Anonymous! You shouldn't have done that! He rarely comments, but he did to you!

Michael Benner Says:

@Anonymous,

You are obviously one to talk. Why don't you quit being a coward that hides behind the anonymity of the Internet and state who you are when you have something to say. You could be a 13 year old punk, a 28 year old lazy person leaving with their parents or middle age adult that has screwed up their life and now can do nothing but belittle others but most of all you have no integrity, courage and self respect. If I were Shey I would just delete your comment from the blog and ignore your immaturity.

**********************************************************************

OK, here is the actual Q&A Part:

Thank you to all that have asked me questions over the past few weeks! First up, let's answer Anonymous' question from above...

- Nope, I do not feel like I am super important or better than anyone. Simply put... people have asked me questions, so I am posting the answers here. Period.

OK, real questions:

"What kind of camera do you use?"

I have a Canon Rebel Xti. Along with that I mostly use my Canon 50mm 1.8 fixed lens. {hoping to get a new camera pretty soon}

"What kind of camera do you recommend?"

Mostly, I recommend the Xti to those of you that are just starting out using DSLR cameras. It's not to hard to learn, and it's just a good camera! I have had mine for almost 2 years, and it's treated me well. :) It's also lightweight, and even the stock lens it comes with takes crisp photographs. I was going to get a Nikon, but in doing my research, Canon was just better. More features, sleeker looking, and it wasn't as heavy. { Nothing against all you Nikon users out there, really. I used to be a Nikon girl, but now I am a total Canon girl. ;) }

How did I get my Etsy shop "out there"?

I just do a lot of giveaways!! I have found that it's been one of the best ways to get your products seen. There are thousands of people on Etsy, so it's hard to just be "seen" without some form of advertising. I also have a friend who had experience on Etsy... she is actually the person who "showed me the ropes" so to speak. Thanks Erin!! ;)

How do I create a watermark for my pictures?

I made my in Photoshop... I have a brush, but for the ones on the pictures of "my assistant" I just used the text tool and wrote on them, and played with them a bit to get them just the way I wanted them.

Was "The Assistant" your hubby?

Yes!! That is my wonderful husband! :) He is the best!! He is always willing to lend a hand whenever I need it! He is also my biggest cheerleader and my website developer! :) That goes along with the father to my children, a phenomenol husband, and doesn't he have the BEST tattoos? :D

How did I find the blog that contained the stolen photos of your children?

They were FOLLOWING me through blogger! Oddly enough, I was wanting to visit my new followers, and noticed someone on there with the same last name!!! Clicked on it, and that's when I saw it. CREEPY*VILLE!!!

Where do you get your labels for your camera strap slip covers?

Glad you asked!! I get them here. She is GREAT!!!

Where do you get your fabrics? I love all of them that you picked!!

Well, thank you!! I get 99% of my fabrics on Etsy. I love supporting my fellow Etsy sellers... hence the reason I love to have giveaways for them here. Interested in doing a giveaway? Email me!!

The only other places that I would normally buy some fabric that I couldn't find on Etsy would be Hancock Fabrics or fabric.com - sometimes Joann's too, but I am not a huge fan of their selection of fabrics.

How old are your girls?

Six and two.

*****************************************************************************

Ok! I am going to stop there! The kids are napping {oldest is sick}, and I need to sew! I hope this answered your questions!!! If I missed some, I am sorry! Remind me what they were, and I will get them up! :)

XOXO!

Blushing

How exciting it is in when you see your products on a well known California photographer's website!!! *Shey*[B] has been featured on DrewB Photography!! I am blushing! Thank you for all the kind words, Drew! You are super sweet. ;)

In other news... not much to report... just lots of sewing. I hired my friend Jenn to babysit a couple times a week so I can get more strap covers done in a day. No pictures to share today... but a couple of reminders...

Wednesday is Giveaway day!!! Don't forget to check back! We have a fun giveaway for this week!

And, Friday I am doing my Q&A post!!! So, ask your questions and they will be answered this Friday!!! How fun! I love questions! And they can be about anything, so ASK AWAY!!! ;)

My Assistant. :)

This is what my assistant did for me yesterday...

Photobucket

He cut about 10 or more yards of fabric for me... I love my assistant. :)

Photobucket

Photobucket

I had 146 orders in January...

Photobucket

THANK YOU!!!

Here's to a great love*ly February!

Photobucket
here is what happens when you cut 3 yards of minky... LOL! It was snowing! ;)

XOXO,

Shealynn

P.S.

Thank you so much for all of you who commented and sympathized on my post last night regarding my stolen photographs. I am happy to report that the blog has been removed! :) Also, I will not stop posting pictures of my family on here... They will have my photography watermark on them every time. It makes it hard for people to steal pictures when you have a watermark. I will end up having my husband design a new one for me.

P.P.S. Guess what? My husband is designing a website for my camera strap slip covers and soon to be other products for your photography needs!!! Stay tuned! ;)

Oh!! And, GO ARIZONA CARDINALS!!!
